CDA Assessment Fee

The CDA Assessment Fee Scholarship offers scholarship funds to assist in paying the $425 assessment fee required by the Council for Professional Recognition in awarding a Child Development Associate Credential. The CDA Assessment Scholarship also pays a bonus to the recipient once they receive their CDA Credential.

T.E.A.C.H. Covers:
85% of the $425 Assessment Fee

Program Sponsor or Recipient Covers:
15% ($63.75) of Assessment Fee

Compensation:T.E.A.C.H. pays $150

Associates Degree


The Associate Degree Scholarship provides support for individuals to take courses toward an associate degree in Child Development/Early Childhood Education at a local community college. 

The scholarship will help you earn as little as 12 hours of college credit or continue working towards an associate degree in early childhood/child development.

T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® TEXAS will cover the following costs for those waning to take courses at any public community college in Texas and taking courses that apply towards an Associate of Applied Science in Child Development/Early Childhood Education degree:

T.E.A.C.H. Covers:
80% of tuition
80% of books
$75 travel stipend per semester
$4.65 per hour release time reimbursement

Program Sponsor Covers:
10% of tuition
10% of books
4 hours paid release time per week while Scholar is in classes

Recipeint Covers:
10% of tuition
10% of books

Education: 9-15 credit hours per contract year 
Compensation:T.E.A.C.H. pays $300
Sponsor pays $300 or 2% raise
Commitment: Recipient commits to remain with the sponsor one year after the contract.

Bachelor's Degree

The Bachelor Degree Scholarship provides support for individuals who have already earned an associate degree in child development/early childhood or have 55 hours of transferable credit towards their degree. Recipients of this scholarship will be completing coursework towards a bachelor degree in Child Development/Early Childhood/Child and Family Studies at a public university in Texas. 

The bachelor program is a small program and currently limited to three universities, once additional funds are available we will expand to additional universities across Texas.

T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® TEXAS will cover the following costs: 

T.E.A.C.H. Covers:
80% of tuition 
80% of books 
$75 travel stipend per semester
$4.65 per hour release time reimbursement

10% of tuition 
10% of books 
4 hours paid release time per week while Scholar is in classes

A Bachelor of Science in Family & Consumer Sciences-Child & Family Studies Concentration degree is a course of study that looks at the various stages of development of both the child and the family. Courses are offered that study the child from conception to the completion of elementary school. Information is presented on families including various family formations, parenting, relationships and the life span of the family. Students with an emphasis in Child and Family Studies are prepared for careers in the child care field (both directing child care centers and working for regulatory agencies), human service agencies devoted to children and family, as a Child Life Specialist (in a hospital setting), educational agencies such as Head Start and other preschool programs, retail services related to children, parenting programs, and numerous other positions involving connection with children and families. Tarleton has campuses in Stephenville, Midlothian, Waco, and Fort Worth.

The Bachelor of Science in Child Development and Family Living provides an in-depth understanding of growth, change and development of children, adults, family and integrates a life-span, multicontextual, and family systems approach. This degree can be completed through online distance learning. This knowledge base has proven to be essential for professional careers and service-oriented professions.

University of Houston-Clear Lake

 

University of Houston-Clear Lake

A Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) program –birth-age 5 emphasis, non-certification.

The early childhood-focused BAS degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies are 120 credit hour 2 + 2 collaborative degree programs with the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Child Development degree. They are primarily focused on young children birth through age 5 and are designed for teachers, directors and other professionals in child care, Head Start, Early Head Start, other infant and toddler programs, private preschools, Early Intervention programs or other programs where teacher certification is not required.

UH-CL's BAS offers a supportive environment with other students who work in the Early Childhood field with children and families. Early Childhood faculty all have advanced degrees in Early Childhood Education and have had years of experience in the field.
