Militza Mezquita

Appointed Member-at-Large

Militza Mezquita is a transformational leader with over 15 years of extensive expertise in early childhood education (ECE), K–12 programming, and child welfare systems. As Texas State Director for Save the Children, she architects and scales statewide strategies to ensure every child gains the literacy and math skills needed to thrive, aligning program delivery with policy impact and sustainable funding models.

Militza is recognized for her ability to deliver measurable impact at scale—turning around underperforming programs, building cross-sector partnerships, and securing multimillion-dollar investments to advance equity in education. Whether shaping state policy, designing high-impact ECE initiatives, or leading multi-million-dollar portfolios, her leadership is defined by operational excellence, systems thinking, and an unwavering commitment to children and families.

My passion for early childhood education is rooted in the belief that every child deserves a strong start, regardless of where they live or the challenges they face. For more than 15 years, I have worked to strengthen early learning systems through program innovation, public-private partnerships, and advocacy that supports children, families, and educators. As a TXAEYC Board Member, I am committed to advancing policies and practices that elevate the early childhood workforce, promote equitable access to quality early learning opportunities, and ensure every Texas child has the foundation they need to thrive.
